About us...
Higher Education Student Association is a student organization for graduate students in the the Higher Education Administration program at the University of Kansas. The organization plans a number of activities for higher ed. graduate students including weekly lunches, community service opportunities, monthly social activities, the Higher Education Graduate Assistanship (HEGA) days in the spring, and the annual hooding ceremony for students completing the program. Social Outtings
Aproximately once a month HESA has planned social outings to a variety of locations around Lawerence and in the surrounding cities. Recent trips have included Baker University (Where some of our HESA members work) and an alpaca farm, the waffle house, Kansas City, the location of Brown v. Board of Education, and other locations.
HEGA Days
Higher Education Graduate Assistantship (HEGA) Days are an opportunities for students who would like to interview for graduate assistantships at the University of Kansas. Two executive board members work very hard in conjunction with staff member Lindsay Hamm to plan and execute these days.
Hooding
Hooding is the annual ceremony put together to recognize students graduating from our program. During this ceremony students and faculty gather together and faculty member hood graduating seniors as a way to recognize them for their hard work and congratulate them on the completion of their degrees.
